AMIGO, the 17th feature film from Academy Award-nominated writer-director John Sayles, stars legendary Filipino actor Joel Torre as Rafael, a village mayor caught in the murderous crossfire of the Philippine-American War. Veteran actor Joel Torre appealed to Filipinos to support “Amigo,” as it competes alongside box-office giants “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.”
“Amigo” is being screened in 12 cinemas only compared to the more than 100 theaters that carry the big budget Hollywood movie “Transformers.” Many cinemas are also expected to screen “Harry Potter” next week.

STOP HATING YOUR BODY
(Trigger warning: this video involves body image issues, there is implied vomiting) With our time together, Elle and I (Annie) created this video. The characters represented in this video are two high school girls dealing with body insecurities for different reasons. They are of different social statuses in school and different influences that lead to their low self-esteem. We start the video with Christina, who has dreams of becoming an actress in theater but feels her looks will hold her back. She collects magazine clippings reminding herself of what she “SHOULD” look like and is influenced by the media and bullies into thinking that she isn’t pretty enough to succeed as an actor. Then we have Claire, who is a bit more popular but secretly deals with a lot of darkness. Her parents pressure her to be thin, implying that it’s the only way for her to be attractive; her father even goes as far as to purchase diet pills for her. She behaves impulsively when overcome with her emotions; the last time she was upset she chopped her hair off. We see these girls hit their lowest point to then find it within themselves to start the climb back up, to start the journey to self-acceptance and self-love, to stop hating their bodies.

Flutter Field (2011)You’ve learned to breathe, to see, to love, to believe. But have you ever learned to fly?
Flutter Field is an artistic rendition of today’s (Philippine) society in the eyes of an unlikely, enigmatic observer. The film highlights a rarely seen facet of people’s attitudes towards life, society and the social cancers that plague their minds and daily routines told through the hopes and dreams of a blinding child.Director’s note: If by the end of this film you’ve gathered up that the child committed suicide, you are wrong. Loljk, it’s an experimental film, you can come up with whatever ending you like. But initially, just so you could appreciate the lines that we so carefully put together, review the film and think of the narration in the balloon’s point of view.
Hey guuuuuuys! Here’s the thing that had me on tumblr hibernation for a long while.
